The Teaching Council is pleased to announce that funding for the Féilte Bursary Scheme has been confirmed for 2026, 2027 and 2028. Each year, the scheme will provide up to €125,000 to schools across the Republic of Ireland for projects that promote collaboration between schools and enhance teachers’ professional learning. This represents a total investment of up to €375,000 over the three-year period.

The Féilte Bursary Scheme enables teachers to explore new approaches to professional learning. Bursaries of €2,000 and €5,000 are available to support a wide range of projects, including teaching of and through Gaeilge, partnerships with Higher Education Institutions, curriculum development and wellbeing initiatives.

By confirming funding for the scheme over the next three years, the Teaching Council is providing schools and teachers with greater certainty and flexibility to plan and prepare future applications.

Claire Ní Mharcaigh, Chairperson of the Teaching Council, said:

“The Féilte Bursary Scheme reflects the Council’s commitment to advancing teachers’ professional learning through meaningful collaboration. By providing funding certainty for the next three years, we aim to give schools and teachers the opportunity to develop projects, build strong partnerships and share innovative practices that will benefit teachers, learners and school communities nationwide.”

Since the scheme was introduced in 2024, the Teaching Council has awarded €226,000 to 54 projects involving 221 schools. Recipient schools have shared reflections and digital resources that demonstrate the impact of their work, all of which are available on the Teaching Council’s website.

Applications for Féilte 2026 will open on 8 September. Details on how to apply will be available on the Féilte Hub.
